Sunwest Homes’ 3,499-square-foot, two-story Santa Barbara fully-furnished model residence is now open in Talis Park’s Brightling neighborhood.

The 2,771- to 3,830-square-foot Park Homes in Brightling offer golf course, water and preserve views that showcase Talis Park’s natural beauty. Caribbean Colonial and Spanish eclectic architectural designs are base-priced at $1 million. Designer-decorated models by Sunwest and Fox Custom Builders are now open for viewing in Brightling.

The Santa Barbara’s architecture combines traditional elements with clean contemporary lines. An open, great room floor plan maximizes the connection between the indoor and outdoor living area. The home features an interior by Sunwest Homes’ Design Director Glenn Midnet, owner of Naples-based Design West. His quintessential coastal California look unites the smooth contrast between light backgrounds and warm furnishings. Warm and cool grays, steel blues and creamy neutral tones play against bright backgrounds to create a casual yet sophisticated aesthetic. The Santa Barbara is available fully-furnished for $1.775 million.

Midnet’s deft combination of textures and natural elements is established in the foyer where an accent chest and a gray chagrin round mirror are set against burnished metal wallpaper with a soft gray rubbed effect. A distressed driftwood chandelier is suspended from the foyer’s two-story ceiling finished to match the driftwood gray French hardwood flooring found throughout the living areas. A light travertine inlay compliments the gray flooring and is repeated in a gallery hallway that provides the design’s first memory point. While the hallway’s double groin vaults traditional flair offers a note of familiarity, arched wall spaces matching the foyer’s welcoming wall are flanked by contemporary channeled columns in bright white. Art pieces capturing the colors of the home are displayed in the wall spaces. The columns and arched spaces accentuate the architecture and ceiling details. Dark metal chandeliers are hung from each of the groin vaults and cast a web-like pattern on the ceiling.

The great room’s cathedral ceiling is finished with driftwood-toned beams and decorative corbels that add character. The room’s feature wall includes a center bump-out covered with warm gray grass cloth flanked by white paneled insets with channels that mimic the gallery hallway’s columns. A dark counter-height Wood Mode built-in wraps around the bump-out and fills each of the insets. Furnishings from Design West include a clean-lined light-white sofa with a bench seat and a dark wood base, a wing chair with a cut velvet gray-toned leaf pattern, coastal California woven rattan chairs with gray fabric and accent pillows in taupes and blues, a cocktail table with a dolphin-gray finish, two ivory leather ottomans with nail head accents and a contemporary shag rug. A wet bar off the great room features dark, steel a gray finished Wood Mode cabinetry and temperature controlled storage for 144 bottles of wine.

The great room flows into a kitchen that is the heart of the home. Ceiling beams and corbels continue the look established in the great room. The bright, white space features Viking appliances and an island with a white base framed by columns on each end. A rectangular lighting fixture with a dark bronze frame is suspended over the island. Four counter-height wing back bar stools with soft gray cushions have a beachy feel and speak to the home’s casual, welcoming elegance. Custom Wood Mode cabinetry is presented in a Nordic white finish and features hidden drawers, pullouts and towered spice racks. A custom pantry door is done in the same material and blends easily into the clean look. Latinum granite counter tops on the island and perimeter reflect the home’s whites and grays. A gray marble material with gray grout is used to create a subway tile backsplash on the perimeter. The same gray marble is used in the cook top’s chicklet patterned backsplash.

In the dining area, Midnet incorporates a mix of the bronze and bright nickel finishes. The circular dining table seats six and features a dark bronze base and a dark oak top. The dining chairs feature slate/dolphin-gray fabric with a steel blue and dark brown Greek key pattern and oversized nail heads. A bronze circular chandelier with candlestick lamps continues the California feeling.

Ninety-degree sliders open the dining area to an outdoor living area that offers a view of the 12th green and fairway on Talis Park’s Greg Norman-Pete Dye designed golf course. The covered lanai is tailor-made for relaxation and entertaining. Furnishings include a steel-blue outdoor rug, seating with ivory cushions and gray accent pillows and a cocktail table with a bronze metal base and a travertine stone top. An outdoor kitchen features a raised bar with seating for seven, colonial gold counter tops, teak cabinetry, a 55-inch television and a Viking grill. A second sitting area includes a circular table and four chairs for intimate outdoor dining. The pool bath’s soft steel-blue walls provide a background for a bright white metal lotus leaf art piece.

The master suite’s vestibule features a traditional shelving console for displaying collected pieces. The bedroom’s pitched ceiling is executed in white wide-plank bead board that plays against soft gray walls. A chandelier with a soft silver finish and hanging crystals and a soft silver star burst mirror provide a bit of glamour. A blue-gray upholstered headboard features a waved top with dark wood banding and bronze nail heads. The nail heads are repeated in an intricate pattern on a dresser and night stands that have been upholstered with linen.

The bath’s white travertine flooring features taupe and sandy tones. Soft ivory and light taupe vintage lace brushed finished Wood Mode vanities are topped by ivory granite counter tops. Above each vanity is a framed-out area filled with soft blue, gray and ivory marble chicklet tiles with an ivory shell-shaped mirror. The shower floor and accent strips set between 12-by-24-inch white travertine wall tiles incorporate the same chicklet tiles. A free standing oval tub plays against the room’s softly shimmering wallpaper. Her closet is an wraparound space with two entries, ivory finished built-in cabinetry and an elegant ivory ottoman with nail head accents.

A driftwood gray French hardwood staircase leads to a second floor club room that combines a study, lounge area and an adjoining terrace. Furnishings include a buttoned tufted back sofa, teal-blue velvet wing chairs and a solid bronze round cocktail table. The room’s Wood Mode built-in has a see-through steel gray finish and serves as a memory point. The built-in has a granite counter with black and gray swirls, a wine chiller, wine rack storage, spaces for displaying collected items and a large television. A floating desk and second built-in provide a study space overlooking the outdoor terrace and a view of the 12th fairway. Ninety-degree sliders open to the terrace where lounge chairs and a metal pub table with a built-in fire pit provide comfortable surroundings for enjoying the view. A full bath finished in bronze and taupe tones allows the space to be used as a second master or guest bedroom.
